Autism 101

AUTISM 101 – an introduction to the autism spectrum. Participants will learn about the defining characteristics of autism, variability and presentation of behaviors associated with autism, prevalence and etiology, therapies and behavioral interventions, and additional resources for more information.

About:  Dr. Sarah Doyle received a master’s degree in psychology from American University and a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. Sarah has extensive training in developmental disabilities, child and adolescent development, program development and evaluation, and community-based interventions. In addition to her graduate studies, she has almost 15 years of experience working with and advocating for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities and their families in home, educational, and clinical settings. Sarah joined the Autism Society Central Virginia (ASCV) as the Program & Outreach Director in November 2018. She is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of all ASCV programming and services, and developing community partnerships. Sarah is passionate about empowering individuals with autism and collaborating with families, professionals, and community partners.
